Recognising the Signs of a Worn Clutch

A biting point that's crept higher, a slipping sensation under acceleration, or a burning smell after a hill start usually point to a clutch on its way out. Clutch replacement in Millom isn't a small job, so it's worth having it looked at as soon as something feels off rather than waiting for it to fail completely, often at the least convenient moment. Stop-start town driving and frequent hill starts, both common around Millom, tend to wear a clutch faster than steady motorway miles.

Why This Isn't a Job to Put Off

Driving on past the point of failure can mean being stuck at the roadside, and in some cases it can damage other parts of the transmission, turning one repair into several. Our technicians will assess the clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing together, since replacing one without checking the others often means doing the job twice. It's a labour-intensive job, since the gearbox usually has to come out to reach the clutch, and that's reflected in the time it takes rather than in anything being rushed.

The Millom Tyres & Auto Centre Way

We'll walk you through what's worn, what it'll cost, and roughly how long your car will be with us, before any work begins. It's not a quick job, but it's one our team has plenty of experience with, and we'd rather take the time to explain it properly than leave you guessing. We'll also let you know whether a courtesy arrangement or a lift home might be worth discussing while your car is with us.
